Dog the Bounty Hunter, and other news

Well, who knew?  I didn't even know who he was til we moved here.  Anyway, unbeknownst to me, we have driven by his headquarters a few times.    To all you Dog Fans, he works less than 2 miles from my house everyday.  Pretty cool, huh?  I remember driving by his place now that I have seen the front of it on tv.  I just didn't know any better.

Now, our own exciting news is that Morgan is working with a talent agency.  We are hoping she will enjoy the acting classes.  There is a Disney casting call in the near future in which Morgan will be taking part.   We would love to get college funds out of this!  Anyway, she is very excited and likes  the attention, of course!  Out of the last 50 odd 4 and 5 y.o kids they saw, Morgan is the only one they picked up.  They have stressed with me not to work her too hard????  I guess the age is in high demand.  Well, I have no intention of that, so don't worry!  They wanted Ethan too, but he said he wasn't interested.  I respect that and I will be the same if Morgan decides this is not for her.  Who am I kidding?  The kid is a drama queen!

We had an interesting Memorial Day Weekend.  We went with the other Boy Scouts to the National Cemetery here to decorate 33,000 graves of veterens to have it ready for Memorial Day visits.  It was a very good experience for both Ethan and Morgan.  They had a hard job of it.  We had to hike up the mountain two miles in very humid, high temperatures.  It was during lunch time, so we didn't have any.  They decorated several graves with flags and leis.  Then we hiked two miles back in the same heat.  Even though they were hungry, hot, and exhausted, neither of them complained and trudged on like little soldiers.  I was very proud.  They were very glad to get back to the air conditioned car!  So was I!!!!

Well, that is all for now.  Hugs and kisses

    North Shore

We went adventure seeking yesterday.  We were headed to Waimae Falls Park.  We took the scenic route along the coastline and enjoyed looking at all the different beaches.

When we reached Sharks Cove and saw the water falling over the reef like a waterfall, we had to stop.  We climbed way out on the reef (low tide).  There were pockets of water with surprises.  We saw tangs, parrot fish, crabs, sea snails, and many we didn't know how to identify.

The parrot fish in the bucket was one of two caught by some boys fishing in the reef.  They were full of great information and we took advantage of it.  They warned us away from the side of the reef where the eels were hiding.  We eventually took off our sneakers and waded through the sandy part to get back.  It was very exciting.  There were plenty of swimmers, snorkelers, and fishermen all through this huge reef.   We will be heading back there.  Ethan and John want to try fishing.

Next stop was Waimae Falls Park now owned by the Audobon Society.  We hiked up to the falls, but didn't swim.  The signs posted warned of Leptospirosis.  That was not a good idea.  Morgan was disappointed.  We saw some birds and lots of pretty plants and trees along the way.  It was fun.

As you can tell by the pictures, it was miserable grey part of the day and brilliant blue the other part.  Still, the weather obliged us by only being grey when we were in the car.  John and I have been in some interesting looking McDonalds on our travels.  This one was very pretty.  The dining room had a chapel-like ceiling and a huge stone waterfall at the end.

There are many places to see, we are going adventuring whenever we can.  May I recommend that you all take advantage of the free hospitality and come adventuring yourself?  It isn't the Ritz or the Plaza, but it is clean, comfortable, and free.  You are all invited.  Besides, I am lonely.

    Settling In

It's almost been two months since we arrived.  Ironically, it is raining today.  Things are better.

We are settled in the house.  I have yard improvements to make, a few curtains to hang,  and kitchen cabinets to paint, but everything else is in it's place.  It looks much better than it did.

The kids love going to the beach.  They are both fearless in the water.  Ethan can get free swimming lessons through the Parks Recreation Department.  Morgan is too young.  The army program says if she can handle the first lesson, they will let her in theirs.  It is not too expensive $30 for 8 lessons.

Ethan is signed up for a week of summer day camp with Youth Services on Post.  He is excited about that.  Meanwhile, we are preparing for his testing.  He should be done with school the last week of May.  Over the summer, we will be working at speed on our Multiplication and Division.  He is also going to continue his typing lessons.  Morgan is excited about starting Kindergarten.  She doesn't realize we can skip the first half of the year's work already.  It will be an easy year for her doing school work maybe twice a week to make the work last the entire year.  I don't want to advance her too far.  She isn't even 5 yet.

We have been active with the homeschool group here, too.  They are not very open to outsiders.  I am planning on taking a board position, that should help.  They have fun days every other Friday afternoon.  Next week, we go bowling.  The kids love this.  They have made a few friends, too.  Still, the kids are a bit reserved--just like their parents.

Morgan started Mini-Soccer Camp yesterday.  She had everyone in stitches with her drama.  One of the moms came up to me to inform me that she was off to the side saying to herself, "This time I'm gonna score!"  with the appropriate arm action.  She also did not hesitate to tell the coach off if she didn't like what he was doing.  She was by far one of the best players and definately the MOST competitive child there.  She makes everything a contest.  She even races the dogs to the door when she is told to let them outside.  She cries if Rexi beats her.  This will be a good growth experience for her.

I am bouting depression a bit.  I am just lonely.  Still, I am sure things will get better.  Friends are here somewhere!  I will find them.
